Bored of Being Yellow

A little yellow duckling dabbled by the pond, looking at his own reflection.

'Mama' said the little duckling, 'I'm bored.'

'Bored?' replied the mama Duck. 'But you've only been alive for a week. What could you be bored about?'

'I'm bored of being yellow. I wanna be another colour. Perhaps Green like the fields!' replied Baby Duck

Mama Duck was bewildered, none of her offspring ever told her they were bored of being their colour.

Baby Duckling asked Mama Duck. " how come you're not Yellow like me? How come I'm Yellow?

Mama Duck didn't have an answer. she just dipped her head in the pond.

Baby Duckling wondered alot more that day. He was sure that he would
be happier if he was green, like the frogs.

He asked the frogs. 'Hi Mr. Frog, why are you green? Can I be Green too?'

Mr. Frog just croaked at him. 'Hmmph. I bet they don't want a yellow duck like me into their club. I'll find a way of being Green!' thought

Baby Duckling noticed a shallow puddle covered in moss.

'Hey! that's Green! I wonder if I can get some of that on me! 'Baby
Duckling splashed and splashed all over the place!
Not only was he Green, he was covered in Moss!

'Yeay! he exclaimed! I'm Green! Now I'll be happy!' thought Baby Duckling

Baby Duckling walked around triumphantly with his new Green Coat. Dripping and leaving a trail of stench around him.

Other Ducklings stared at him in horror. 'Baby Duckling! what's wrong with you? are you sick?'

Baby Duckling Laughed at them and said. 'Hah! I'm Green Now, I'm no longer Yellow like you! '

The Other Ducklings covered their noses 'But you stink!'

Baby Duckling said 'It's no use being jealous and calling me names..I'll still be Green!'

The Other Ducklings ignored the Silly Duckling.

That Night, while all the duckies were sleeping, it rained heavily.

Baby Duckling woke up and waddled off to the pond to admire his new green coat.

To his surprise, he was Yellow!

'Yellowfeathers' said Baby Duckling. It didn't last. Now the other ducklings are going to laugh at me.

Baby Duckling went to look for the same moss covered puddle but it was no longer there.The Rain had washed it away!

Baby Duckling wandered around hopelessly. 'I'm worse off than before! I really don't want to be yellow!'

Baby Duckling waddled up to the farmhouse to see what he could do. And he saw Farmer painting his barn Red!

'Red!' said the Baby Duckling. 'Red! that's the colour that I want! If Only I could get Farmer to paint me red as well! '

Baby Duckling ran up to Farmer flapped and tugged at his heels, but Farmer merely chased Baby Duckling away.

Baby Duckling was not discouraged and waited will Farmer was not looking and dove straight into the bucket of paint!

Splashing around, Baby Duckling was now bright Red! He was quite pleased with himself.

He quickly rushed off to the pond to show the other ducklings his new colour.

Leaving a trail of Red webprints behind him.

Nearing the pond, Baby Duckling found it harder to move... by the time he reached the pond, he could not even open his beak!

The Other ducklings saw him and asked him what as wrong.


Baby Duckling could not move a at all, not even a feather!

The Other ducklings poked Baby Duck, but he could not say what was wrong.

The Other duckling laughed at Baby Duckling, because he was Red,
couldn't move and couldn't speak.

Baby Duckling stood still as could be while the Other Ducklings laughed and made fun of him.

With a tear in Baby Duckling's Eye, Farmer picked Baby Duckling up. Farmer had followed Baby Duckling's Red trail!

'You silly Duckling! what have you done?!' laughed Farmer

Farmer brought Baby Duckling into the house and closed the door.

The Next day, the Other ducklings found Baby Duckling hiding behind the reeds.

'Hey Baby Duckling! what happened?' asked the Other Ducklings

Baby Duckling emerged from the reeds but Baby Duckling was now all PINK!

'HaH!' cried the other ducklings. 'you're Pink now! what happened to you?'

Baby Duckling replied sheepishly, 'Farmer plucked out all my hardened Red feathers.'

The Other Ducklings all laughed at Silly Duckling

But Silly Baby Duckling was happy. He wasn't Yellow anymore!
